Serviguide Tech, as part of its commitment and support to companies and events dedicated to the ICT sector, participated last Friday, September 23, in the 26th edition of the Galician Night of Telecommunications in Galicia.

Through sponsorship, it was present at this important sector event that recognized entrepreneurship, research, and good practices generated in the field of ICT by different individuals and entities.

The event: Digitalization without social borders.

During the event, the existence of a significant gap in older people’s access to new technologies was emphasized. Therefore, the Colexio Oficial de Enxeñeiros de Telecomunicación de Galicia and the Asociación de Enxeñeiros de Telecomunicación set a goal to overcome this abyss. Hence, the theme chosen for that night was Digitalization without social borders.

Also present at the event was the Mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, who commented on the need for these professionals to assume that moral responsibility to prevent the creation of barriers in the use of digital technologies by our elders.

For Alfredo Castro, General Director of Serviguide Tech, “in events like these, we must demand that technological leaders, administrations, and institutions have the will to facilitate access to technologies for all citizens. From the methods and systems that each of us masters, we must be that support shield for our elders and people with different abilities.”

Among the awards given that night, it is worth highlighting the Engineer of the Year award, which went to Ricardo Fernández Fernández, for having been a key figure in the collegiate organization of telecommunications engineers, of which he was the managing director and secretary-general in different legislatures.

Subsequently, the Amtega award for the Best ICT Project with Social Benefits went to the Smilink project, developed by Damián Vázquez Lavandeira, for the aid it offers for the social integration of the elderly.
